Bonding involves placement of white/tooth colored composite resins to the surfaces of teeth to mask stains, close gaps between teeth, repair broken or chipped teeth, and to change the shape and length of teeth. Bonding can be done in a single visit with great esthetic results. With good home care and routine cleanings, these restorations can last up to 6-8 years. The advantages are one-office visit results with significantly lower costs than porcelain veneers or crowns. The disadvantages are that composite doesn't look as natural as porcelain, it tends to stain over time, and it doesn't last as long.
